Abstract

1299047 Printing textiles PLAUENER GARDINE VEB 18 Aug 1971 38673/71 Heading B6C A textile web 7 is printed on with a heatfoamable plastics ink, to form an unfoamed image 8, then passed through a heat treatment to foam ink. A splitting or shearing of the foam then reveals its cellular structure. Preferably the textile web is printed on while attached to an endless band 2a, and is printed serially with a plurality of plastics inks. A barrier material which evaporates during the heat treatment may be applied to the band 2a to prevent the plastics ink penetrating its surface and a separate such material may be applied to the web either as a coating which prevents the plastics ink from penetrating deeply or imagewise. After the cellular structure of the foam is exposed embossing, metallising, etching or cutting operations may be carried out on the printed web.
