Abstract

In an injection moulding machine with a fixed and a moving platen holding the mould halves, the guide to columns are provided with a piston and cylinder connected to a common hydraulic supply to control the platen posn. according to the thickness of the mould. The mould halves are brought together by the action of a toggle joint and the final high locking pressure is produced by the hydraulic jacks attached to the columns. The arrangement enables the locking pressure to be accurately controlled on each column.
