Abstract
806,062. Injection-moulding machines. SKELTON, F. June 8, 1956 [July 18, 1955], No. 20738/55. Class 87(2). A cylinder 11, from which rubber compound or the like is injected by a fluid-pressure operated plunger 16 into a two-part or multipart mould 4, 5 held in a hydraulic press 1, 3, has a bore 23 of reduced cross-section at its inner end and is held in sealing engagement with a face 5b of the mould by the pressure due to the plunger 16, which has a reduced end 24 to enter the reduced end of the cylinder bore. In the form shown, the mould comprises two plates 4, 5 with mould cavities 6 connected by passages 14, 15 to the bore 23. The cylinder 11 extends through the upper plate 4 into contact with the top of the lower plate 5. The operating cylinder 18 of the plunger 16 is supported by pillars 21 which are either carried by the press head 1, as shown, or extend freely through the upper mould plate 4 and are anchored in the lower mould plate 5.
