Abstract

A three handled container is blow moulded from an extruded tube by cooperating mould halves each carrying in a recess a preformed outer handle attached to a plate by which the handle is welded to the body of the container during blowing. The central handle is formed during blowing by a pair of cooperating mould pieces slidable upon the mould halves during closure to a handle defining posn and upon opening to a posn allowing removal of the handle. Gerry cans can be made in one operation from a plastics material and the operation necessary to make them from metal and the corrosion of metal cans is obviated. Pref. the sliding mould pieces are actuated partly by a wedge to laterally bring them into cooperation and partly by a spring to bring them longitudinally into posn.
