Abstract

Method of increasing the working life of refractories constituting the arch of a metallurgical furnace with a fume collecting system which produces a depression inside the intrados (inner surface) of the arch, is by forming the arches with a no. of orifices of variable elementary surface pres. from 0.01-1000 mm2, and the passage of the air admitted into the orifices by the depression existing in the intrados cools the refractory material.
