Abstract

Appts. for the continuous prodn. of high-molecular polyethylene terephthalate comprises an upright cylindrical vessel with top inlet and bottom outlet. Extract remove the voltatile substances. A vertical, central, revolving shaft passes through successive tiers of fixed, vertical material exchange plates; each tier of plates has a distributor space above it and a collector space below it, with a vertical length of pipe connecting each distributor space to the collector space next above it. The shaft, where it passes through each length of pipe, has a screw thread on it, conveying towards the distributor space, (i.e. downwards) and pref. also an opposed thread conveying upwards to the distributor space, (i.e. downwards) and pref. also an opposed thread conveying upwards to the distributor chamber from the plate region.
