Abstract
Cpds. of gen. formula (I): (where R1 is lower alkyl, lower cycloalkyl, phenyl-lower alkyl or phenyl; X is halogen; n is 2, 3, 4 or 5) are prepd. by reacting a cpd. (II): with a cpd. (III): halogen-CO-OR1 in suitable inert organic solvent, pref. using an acid-acceptor such as a tert. amine etc. (I) have anti-inflammatory-, analgesic- and antipyretic activity and may be used in the treatment of rheumatoid-, osteo- or infectious arthritis, gout, rheumatic fever, etc. (I) are more active than similar known cpds. and show less side-effects while the activity lasts longer. They cause less readily vomiting than known cpds. such as aspirin, and have a better therapeutic index than these.
