Abstract
The new salts are prepd. by reaction of an alpha-aminobenzylpenicillin with an equiv. of a sulphamic acid (I) : R-NR-NH-SO3H (I) (where R is 1-18C alkyl). The reaction is pref. effected in a lower alkanol and the product may be isolated by evapn. or precipitation. These salts are better absorbed, give a more regular concentration in the blood, and are active over a longer period than are the parent penicillins.
