Abstract
Nose has an envelope of a very high strength pref. Mg alloy with a detonator at its rear. This is followed by a transfer charge of hexogen; its edge is in contact with the principal charge which is formed of 15% of tri-nitrotoluene and 85% of hexogen. The central part of the transfer charge is sepd. by a screen of inert plastic material. The nose contains the firing mechanism which is connected to the detonator by a conductor traversing the principal charge. The nose provides the max penetrating power with the min. wt.; the plastic material gives a suitable delay to the detonation in the median axis.
