Abstract

The gauge is based on a float or floats actuating an external mechanism whose relative heights can be measured. To enable the wall thickness of the float(s) to be reduced to a minimum even under press of up to 10 M Pa as with water cooled nuclear reactors, the interior is partially filled with a liquid, esp. the same as in the pressure vessel, whose vapour pressure at reactor operating temp. is approx the same as that obtained in the pressure vessel. Additional means of heating the float from exernal sources may be added.
