Abstract

Title cpds of formula: (where R=H, halogen, CO2H, trihaloalkyl, esp. CF3; Y=H, alkali metal) may be prepd by reaction of 2-chlorobenzoyl chloride with the appropriate alkyl or aralkyl aminobenzoate followed by hydrolysis of the ester. The uricosuric coeff. at 25 degrees C after 30 min at a concentration of 10-3M. is 8.3 when measured by xanthine oxidase oxidation of xanthine to uric acid. In adults, dosage units of 50-400 mg may be given orally or parenterally for treatment of gout.
