Abstract

Sachet of plastic film folded and welded to a pattern which automatically forms a flat base when the sachet is filled. Each sachet comprises a flat tubular body with the base sealed and tucked in to form a 'W' section. Welds are formed across the corners of the 'W' section without welding the two inner layers of the 'W' section to each other. Pref. sachets are produced in series from lay flat tubing using welding tools with 90 degrees 'V' profile jaws aligned with the axis of the side weld between pairs of adjacent sachets. Pref. the welding tools work through an intervening sheet of non stick film, pref. PTFE or similar, pref. as a moving continuous belt associated with each jaw face. Pref. an ancillary pad of non-stick material, pref. silicon rubber, is introduced into the (running) centre fold of the 'W' section to prevent welding between the two inner faces. For mfr. of flexible sachets of thermoplastic film for milk, etc. sealed by existing techniques after filling.
