Abstract

A cavity above the melt is pressurised to supply molten metal through a nozzle into a mould arranged above the melt, and accumulated pressure is eliminated from the cavity after solidification of the moulded article. Pressurisation is obtained using a pressurised inert or neutral gas and pressure is eliminated so that the gas evacuated from the cavity may be recycled.
