Abstract

Mixed concrete moulded body is produced by (a) mixing prefoamed, non-aged polystyrene particles of 3mm, cement, and additives such as sand, (b) blowing steam into the mixt. and (c) moulding. The bodies are dimensionally stable soon after placing in the mould. Use of epoxy resins as bonding agents for the prefoamed polystyrene beads is unnecessary. Pref. steam is blown into the closed mould at a pressure of not >2 atm. The duration of the steam treatment is 30-120 secs. so that the mixt. is heated to 60-70 degrees C.
