Abstract
Superheated steam produced in the first heat exchanger or main "boiler" by thermal transfer between a water/vapour mixture and the liquid metal passes to the HP turbine via one channel in an intermediate two stage heat exchanger through whose second channel exhaust steam passes to the LP turbine. Bleed steam from the HP turbine is passed through a third channel in the intermediate heat exchanger. The temp. of the inlet steam to the LP turbine is maintained by the above "boot-strap" method, at a superheated level at which the LP turbine is most efficient as compared with other methods.
