Abstract

A lithographic printing plate is made from a support carrying a water-permeable, hydrophilic and unexposed layer of Ag halide emulsion and an organic colloid and a water-permeable, thin, oleophilic layer. The plate is exposed imagewise, developed and processed with an etching and Ag bleach solution (I). The etched area of the developed surface, esp. the oleophilic surface adjacent to that area, is eliminated by rubbing to form a hydrophilic disperse zone and an oleophilic image in the unexposed parts. Pref. the oleophilic surface is formed by (a) an oleophilic Cr coordination complex, (b) polyacrolein, (c) a dialdehyde polymer, (d) or their mixtures, opt. with a surfactant.
