Abstract
The material for valve seats has improved resistance to wear, is self-lubricating, heat resisting and suitable for internal combustion engines running on Pb-free petrol. It is composed of an Fe base alloy contg. a dispersion of Pb, or Pb cpd., or glass, pref. a Fe-Cr-C alloy contg. a dispersion of Pb, or a Pb cpd. in amts. of 0.3 - 10 wt.%, or Cu, or a Cu cpd. in amts. of 5-45 wt.% or silica glass up to 10 wt.%.
