Abstract

In a process for forming satchels from a single sheet of heat weldable material e.g. of PVC, the sheet is cut to size and marked by heating with fold lines defining a central rectangular panel, which after folding will form the front, the bottom, the back and the flap of the satchel, the central panel being surrounded on all sides by a narrow folding band and by flaps along the sides forming the front, bottom and back, a rectangular reinforcing panel of the same dimensions as the central panel being applied to it, folded over the edges and welded. The panel is then folded into shape, the flaps are unfolded towards the outside, their edges welded, their bottom corners folded back and the outer corner welded on the bottom of the satchel. The reinforcement may be a sheet of card covered with thermoplastic on one side with the card inwards. The handle, lock etc are separately fixed.
