Abstract
1,062,748. Gusseted bags. KORSNAS G.m.b.H. Nov. 8, 1963 [Nov. 13, 1962], No. 44114/63. Heading B8K. The bellows folds 13, 131 and 14, 14<SP>1</SP> of a gusseted bag, Fig. 2, extend on to the bottom flap 15 forming an extension of one side wall, and effectively seal the bag bottom when the flap 15 is folded about the line 21 and sealed to the opposite wall 12, 12<SP>1</SP>. Lappets 19 on the side wall also assist in sealing the bag shown. An impression may be made along the line 21 to assist folding. When the bag is filled and opened as in Fig. 5 the extensions of the bellows form triangular gussets 23<SP>1</SP> which reinforce the flat bottom 22, 22<SP>1</SP>. The bag may have multiply walls of paper, fabric, plastics, or similar materials, and one ply may have a heatsealable coating. The plies are stepped so that the outermost layer defines the outermost edge of the bottom flap. The top of the bag may be closed in a similar manner to the bottom and in this case a valve inlet slot is provided. In any embodiment a rectangular cover sheet may be pasted to the bag bottom, and separate strips may encase the recessed corners 16 of the bottom flap.
