Abstract
Electrolytic Cr-plating is carried out with the electrolyte being passed at a speed of 1-50 m/sec through the electrode gas and a current density of between 200 and 1200 A/dm2. The ratio between the electrolyte circulating speed and the current density is between 1:24 and 1:200. The contours of the workpiece cathode and the anode should be parallel so that a constant gap is formed for the electrolyte. The process is between 10-20 times faster, than conventional methods, and permits deposn. thicknesses of =200 mu m of improved hardness.
