Abstract

1324528 Electroplating articles in molten salt baths NIPPON KOKAN K K 10 Sept 1970 [30 Jan 1970] 43332/70 Heading C7B In a method of electro-plating articles such as bolts or nuts in a molten salt plating bath, a plurality of the articles are aligned in the bath with substantially equal spaces therebetween and in line or face contact with the anode, and are rotated during plating. Rotation of the parts may be effected by movement of the cathode or of a frame supporting the parts so that they roll on the cathode. Nuts may have an auxiliary anode extending there through electrically separated therefrom by porous insulating material. Bolts 62 may also be supported on a cathode belt 53 (see Fig.7b) which is passed continuously through the plating bath, the supporting belt 54 moving at a different speed to the cathode belt 53. Alternatively the bolts may be woven (see Fig.10a) into cathode wires 80; the wires moving relative to one another (as indicated on the drawing) thereby effecting rotation of the bolts.
