Abstract

Phosphorus and/or bismuth compounds are fed into the cracking zone in a process for the thermal cracking of a petroleum-steam mixture, cracking takes place in pipes which are positioned in an oven. The feed opt. contains S. Coking of the pipes, and formation of CO, are suppressed. The necessity for purifying the feed is avoided.
