Abstract

Inserts of leather and opt. metal in the form of a shoe sole or heel, esp. the 'U' shaped boundary, are placed or stacked in a mould subsequently filled by injection of a polyurethane or other synthetic composition to form an integral moulding. Insert welts or tips may also be included. The leather or metal components are firmly incorporated in a single operation instead of being nailed stitched or glued to a prefabricated moulding formed for accepting a restricted pattern of subsequent fittings. The overall weight of the moulded composite soles is less than for a conventional sole.
