Abstract

Improving the economics of heat production in a nuclear reactor particularly a heavy-water moderated reactor, of the type in which the circulating stream of coolant, e.g. gaseous CO2 enters a first zone of the reactor where it absorbs the heat produced and then flows through a steam generating assembly where it ensures the heating, vaporising and superheating of a vaporisable fluid particularly light water incorporating the improvement whereby a complementary superheating of the vapour produced in the steam generator takes place in a second zone of the reactor, pref. surrounding the first zone concentrically.
