Abstract
Metal-, e.g. sodium cooled, fast neutron, nuclear reactor, in which the molten sodium is at least partly vaporised in the core and gives up the heat received in it, to a seconary fluid circulating in the tubes, of >=1 heat exchangers, the novel feature of this system being that the circulation of the sodium through the core and exchangers takes place by natural convection between the core where the sodium boils at constant temp. and pressure and the exchangers in which the sodium vapour condenses and returns to the core as liquid. The prefd. secondary fluid is He, which operates in closed circuit and is expanded in a turbine outside the reactor after leaving the heat exchangers.
