Abstract
1,207,120. Cooling reactors. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 10 Sept., 1969 [13 Sept., 1968], No. 44617/69. Heading G6C. In a liquid sodium cooled, fast reactor, in the event of a fault in the cooling circuit, excess heat is radiated from the core through metal surfaces. During normal operation, heat generated in the core, 1, is extracted by the pumps, 6, and heat exchangers, 7. The metal tank, 3, is thermally insulated by the layer, 12, and the metal element, 14, consisting of two parallel stainless steel sheets function as a heat radiator at high temperatures of the sodium, 4, during fault conditions.
