Abstract

is used as a polymerisation inhibitor in liquid vinyl monomers, such as (meth)acrylic acid and/or (meth)acrylate esters. 2,6-Di-t-butulcresol is an effective stabiliser both at room temp. and a higher temps. It also stabilises mixtures of (meth)acrylic acids with their esters. The monomers may also be stabilised in the form of solutions in water and/or organic solvents. The presence of other cpds., such as are present during the preparation or esterification of meth)acrylic acid does not interfere with the stabilising effect.
