Abstract

Heat exchanger comprises a receiving tank of stainless material in the form of an inverted letter omega, it has a longitudinal opening which can be covered by a pivoting lid. The tank is placed in an envelope with the interposition of an insulating material which consists of a solid mass of polyurethane foam; this is injected 'in situ' and then expanded. The tank is cylindrical and is closed at its ends by lateral walls; it includes an evaporator of a refrigeration unit. This evaporator is of the integral type and consists of a metal sheet which is assembled on the tank and spot welded at a certain number of points, a series of expansion chambers are thus formed between the external wall of the tank and the internal wall of the sheet. The exchanger is particularly robust and of low cost because of its simple construction. The envelope is moulded in one piece from plastic material and the solid insulator increases the resistance of the assembly to shocks.
