Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a disaster through elimination of damages of pipes and insulating material and through elimination of runoff of liquid stored in a double hull tank, by restraining the slide of an inner tank by fitting a horizontal restraint plate with an expanded portion between the inner and outer tanks. CONSTITUTION:An outer tank2 is erected on a foundation 1 and an inner tank 5 is erected through intervention of insulation 3 such as foam glass on the bottom plate of outer tank 2 and insulation 4 such as pearlite for the side and roof. A horizontal constraint plate 6 having a stage of convex expansion at the center is welded between the inner and outer tanks 5, 2 through outer and inner tank fitting members 8, 8'. Since the constraint plate 6 has a large rigidity against the shearing force caused by a horizontal force, it can constrain the slide of the inner tank 5 at the time of an earthquake.
