Abstract

Appts. consists of a support mounted so that it can pivot from its middle on a carriage guided along the length of the roll by a rail. One arm of the support carries a counterweight and a gripping device to keep it in contact with the side of the roll. The other arm carries a inductive sensor which can transverse the surface of the roll without contact or by contact using an armature plunger. The appts. can be accurately standardised and zeroed for the range of measurements. Signals from the sensor are transmitted by an amplifier to a paper tracing registering appts.
