Abstract

A heat or mass exchanger unit comprising a jacketed temp. controlled vertical cylinder internally fitted with conical coils across its section at varying levels. Liquid flows via an upper inlet to a central distributor supplying an even liquid coverage to the coil beneath it, which contains a similar distributed at its centre to supply the next coil. Gas is admitted at a lower inlet to percolate vents in each coil to create a uniform foam above the coils. Vanes below each coil zone create turbulence to improve mixing.
