Abstract

Pref. several yarns pref. of resin impregnated glass fibre pass between adjacent teeth of a comb guide mounted on a reciprocable carriage, and are wound spirally onto a tubular former. Between the guide and the former the yarns pass over a tension bar carried between the end of arms which are pivotally mounted on the carriage, the tension bar being spring urged towards lower stops. The winding mechanism is used in producing fibre reinforced resin tubes. Drag on the yarn through the guide in reduced, thereby reducing yarn breakages.
