Abstract

Appts. is intended to collect foregin materials floating on or near the surface of water, partic. oil slicks at sea; it comprises a reservoir with two lateral walls connected by a deck of buoyant material such as expanded polystyrene. Front and rear walls are provided and are shaped to improve the navigation characteristics. The appts. is directed to an oil slick and motor-driven bladed wheels drive the mixture of oil and water into the reservoir where the oil floats and collects; the sea water sinks and escapes out of the open base of he reserovir. The appts. is able to collect the oil from slicks at sea before the oil reaches the shore.
