Abstract

The work is rotated in a chuck and connected by brushes to the positive pole, while a workhead connected to the negative pole carries a series of electrodes mounted radially, each covering between 2 and 60 degrees of the work surface. Working against the free ends of the electrodes is a conical member, so that when this member slides towards the chuck the electrodes are pushed inwards towards the work along their slides. Electrolyte is pumped under pressure through the electrodes to the work, and by varying the electrode tip shape and the shape of the conical member a wide variety of shapes can be machined.
