Abstract

Simulated wood press-moulded article.. B2B. Consists of a core of wood chips and resin enclosed in a number of layers of short-fibred resin impregnated paper. The moulding material is placed in a mould having surfaces complementary to the desired wood grain, cured by heat and pressure and deflashed. A phenolic, polyester or melamine resin is used and is cured at 300-325 degrees and 1500-2000 p.s.i. Conventional furniture finishing processes can be applied to the article and since the surface is sealed it can be completely stopped and refinished.
