Abstract

An aqs. soln. of crude 1:2-benzisothiazolone in the form of a mixture of two or more of its salts with diethanolamine, triethanolamine, di-isopropanol-amine tri-isopropanolamine and morpholine. For the protection of aqs. solns. against infection by micro-organisms. The 1:2-benzoisothiazolone itself, its metal salts, or its amine salts alone, are insufficiently soluble to achieve the effective concentration; suspensions are effective, but they separate out and clog pipes. The mixture of two or more salts gives a soluble prepn., esp. when a glycol is added.
