Abstract

Hydraulic fluids, which are free from selenium and tellurium compounds, comprise a major proportion of one or more polyoxyalkylene glycols or ethers thereof as base fluid, and a minor proportion of a dialkyl citrate, the alkyl groups of which contain on average 3 1/2 -13 carbon atoms. The pH of the fluids may be adjusted to above pH 8 by addition of diamylamine, morpholine, triethanolamine, or a mixture thereof. Benzotriazole may also be present.
