[Also in Division E2] A closing device for the gathered neck portion of a bag of flexible material comprises a plate - like body 8 having an aperture defined by a plurality of inwardly-directed teeth 9 of resilient material, the teeth being bendable out of their rest position for enlargement of the aperture to permit introduction of the neck portion of the bag. In use the open end 18 of the bag is inserted into the aperture and drawn up in the direction A, Fig. 3, until the device reaches the solid part 19. The weight of the contents causes the teeth to grip and a tight seal is thus formed. To open the bag the disc may be pulled off or the bag twisted and broken, the second method being necessary when the disc is made of a rigid substance such as metal or the like.
