838,172. Cord fastenings. WILSON, F. N. Feb. 4, 1958 [Feb. 6, 1957], No 3614/58. Class 44 A bag closure comprises a short length of tube 3 associated with the bag 6, e.g. of polyethylene, and a cord &c. adapted to have its ends 4, 4a passed through the bore of the tube length in opposite directions to leave a loop for encompassing the open end of the bag, the thickness of the cord being such that when the ends are pulled to constrict the loop about the bag end there is sufficient frictional resistance between them and the tube length to retain the cord loop in its restricted condition. The tube length may be attached to the bag by a resilient part-tubular element 1 which is located within the bag and into which the tube length snaps, with a portion of the bag wall between them; alternatively the tube length is adapted to project through two closely-spaced holes in the bag wall or is simply secured to the bag by adhesive tape.
