CONSISTE EN SOMETER A REACCION DE DOBLE CAMBIO UN ACIDO CALCOGENHIDRICO O UN CALCOGENURO Y UNA SAL DE METAL DE QUE SE DESEE OBTENER EL CALCOGENURO PRODUCTO, A UNA TEMPERATURA COMPRENDIDA ENTRE LA DE EBULLICION DE LOS REACTIVOS Y DESPERDICIOS Y LA DE FUSION DE LOS MATERIALES. SIENDO: LOS ACIDOS CALCOGENHIDRICOS, ACIDO SULFAHIDRICO, ACIDO SELENHIDRICO, ACIDO TELURHIDRICO; Y LOS CALCOGENUROS REACTIVOS, CLORURO DE ASTATO (III), CLORURO DE ANTIMONIO (III), CLORURO DE ZINC (II), CLORURO DE GERMANIO (IV), CLORURO DE ESTAÑO (IV), CLORURO DE FOSFORO (III), CLORURO DE SILICIO (IV), CLORURO DE CADMIO (II) Y CLORURO DE ESTAÑO (II).
