Abstract
The invention concerns a composite component consisting of at least two parts composed of different fibre materials, the first fibre material being a customary fibre material made of ceramic or mineral, fire-resistant or refractory fibres in the form of webs, sheets or mouldings and the second fibre material having a higher mechanical strength. The invention has for its object to provide a composite component which, although composed of different materials, shall be composed of materials containing as main constituent fire-resistant or refractory fibres, so that in use the similarity of the fibre, and materials, shall prevent the build-up of excessive stresses which, compared with prior art composite components composed of fibre materials, shall have a significantly higher mechanical strength and in particular compressive strength at elevated temperatures. This object is achieved by a composite component characterised in that the second fibre material: a) is prepared from a mixture containing: 100 parts by weight of ceramic fibres or fibre mixtures, 4-15 parts by weight of binder clay, 2-8 parts by weight of organic binder, and b) is present in the composite component in the form of at least one surface or interior layer or filling.
