Abstract
1281153 Glaze coatings REIMBOLD & STRICK 20 July 1970 [19 July 1969] 35111/70 Heading C1M A coating which contains the raw material or frits of a glaze for ceramic ware and which glaze when fired, has at least one of its constituents in the form of a synthetic inorganic fibre material. One or more or the whole of the constituents may be in the form of a fleece, or woven or knitted fabric of mineral fibres. Finely ground constituents may be adhesively bonded to mineral fibres, or in the interstices of, or between two layers of material fibre fleece or fabric and suitable organic binders are listed which burn away without residue. The fibres may have a diameter of 1 to 50 Á, preferably 5 to 20 Á. Decorative effects may be produced by incorporation of pattern powders in the interstices or between layers of the fabric or by arranging that not all the fibrous components melt entirely. In an example, glass fibre fleece of composition in weight percentages of SiO 2 67À43; Al 2 O 3 4À94; B 2 O 3 1À56; CaO 5À75; MgO 3À62; Na 2 O 11À94; K 2 O 4À07 is impregnated with a glaze frit 90 parts, copper oxide 0À1 parts; kaolin 5 parts; and clay 5 parts (the frit having the Seger formula CaO 0À24; MgO 0À21; Na 2 O 0À45; 2 HO 0À10; Al 2 O 3 0À11; SiO 2 2À61; B 2 O 3 0À05) mixed with 60 parts of a water-glycerol milling fluid, the fleece then being dried at 80‹ C. and fired at 1120‹ C.
