Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance of a friction material composite for an electromagnetic clutch, etc., by forming a reinforcing short-fiber cellulose pulp, an organic filler, and friction-and wear-adjustors Al2O3 and/or MgO of respective specified percent into a friction material composite with porosity of 15-30vol.%. CONSTITUTION:25-35vol.% of short-fiber cellulose pulp with fiber length below 150mum as a reinforcing fiber material, 30-40vol.% of organic filler consisting of cork powder and/or cashew dust with a maximum grain size below 840mu, and 0.5-5vol.% of aluminum oxide and/or magnesium oxide with a maximum grain size below 250mum as a friction-and sear-adjustor, and used for a friction material composite. These materials are blended, and bonded by a thermosetting resin adhesive into a friction material composite with porosity of 15-30vol.%. Thus, a friction material composite having the wear resistance as high as a conventional non-asbestos friction material based on Aramide fiber and a high coefficient of friction from an initial use can be obtained.
