Abstract

Devices according to the application, in which treatment is carried out by means of gases passing through and which are used in particular for cooling and drying, consist of a rotating belt of troughs (17) having bottom plates which are permeable to gases and which are supported by means of running wheels (19) on rails (20) and run on said rails (20), gas hoods (23) disposed under and/or above the bottom plates, and sliding seals (1) of flexible material, fastened to the gas hoods (23), to seal the gaps between the troughs (17) loaded with material (22) and the gas hoods (23). In order to prevent the destruction of the seals (1) and to achieve slight frictional action on the troughs (17), the sliding seals (1) abut by their free ends against the troughs (17), those parts (9) of the sliding seals (1) which lie outside the fastening (3a, 3b) to the gas hoods (8, 23) being cut at intervals, each cut (10) beginning - viewed in the direction of movement of the troughs - at the free end of the sliding seal (1) behind its clamping point (12) in the fastening (3a, 3b) to the gas hood (23) and extending at an angle other than 90 degrees to the longitudinal sides of the sliding seals (1).
