Abstract

A process for the preparation by substitution of a water insoluble organic compound having a melting point lying between 100 DEG C and 200 DEG C. The process is conducted with the reaction ingredients and water at a pressure above atmospheric pressure and at a temperature above the melting point of the desired product. The water with the by-products dissolved therein is separated from the desired product by decantation. The process is applicable to the preparation of insoluble metal salts of monocarboxylic acids from the acids, or from esters or triglycerides of the acids.
