Abstract

The device for collecting oil escaping accidentally from a under-water oil sheet comprises a bell (10) intended to be immersed in the sea and lowered by means of a crane down to the bottom to cover the location where the oil leaks and a flexible pipe (11) in order to convey the oil collected by the bell (10) up to the sea surface for recovering. The bell (10) is provided with openings through which the water flows during lowering of the bell (10) thus facilitating the setting in place thereof, and it also comprises remote controlled valves which allow the closing of the said openings when the bell is properly positioned on the sea bed.
