Abstract

Un método para producir cuerpos moldeados de material plástico expandido de una densidad predeterminada, en que un material de partida de plástico en forma granular o en polvo al que se ha añadido un agente de hinchado y opcionalmente un agente de reticulación, es introducido en una máquina/prensa de moldeo por inyección, en donde el material de partida es calentado e inyectado en un molde, caracterizado porque el material es calentado a una temperatura en que pasa a estado plástico pero que es menor que la temperatura requerida para iniciar la reacción del agente de hinchado y el agente de reticulación opcional, porque el material en este estado es inyectado/prensado en un molde que tiene una temperatura inferior y recibe una forma que se aproxima a la del producto final deseado, después de lo cual el producto así formado es transferido en cualquier instante ulterior adecuado a un nuevo molde que tiene la forma del producto deseado pero de dimensiones mayores que el producto inicialmente moldeado, preferiblemente un 5 a 30% mayor, y es calentado en este molde a la temperatura de activación para el agente de hinchado y el agente de reticulación opcional, después de lo cual el producto acabado es rápidamente retirado del molde e inmediatamente se expande hasta su forma permanente.
