Abstract

Un método de formar revestimientos monolíticos in situ en hornos metálicos, caracterizado por las etapas de proporcionar un cemento refractario de apisonado o vibración en seco, para conformar in situ revestimiento interiores monolíticos en hornos metálicos, que consiste en partículas gruesas, intermedias y finas, de un refractario cristalino, seleccionado del grupo que consiste en alúmina, alúmina-óxido de cromo, óxido de zirconio, espinela, sílice, carburo de silicio. Óxido de magnesio-óxido de cromo, circón, mullita, óxido de magnesio y combinaciones de los mismos, hasta un 5 % de un fundente de temperatura intermedia, y aluminio en partículas finas, que tiene un tamaño de partícula de 10 micras o menor, dividido a un grado de finura suficiente para que se oxide a alúmina in situ, durante el funcionamiento del horno, estando presente dicho aluminio en una cantidad insuficiente para producir un camino eléctrico directo a través de la mezcla refractaria apisonada, e insuficiente para llenar por completo los poro s dela mezcla apisonada, por oxidación a alúmina, pero estando presente en una cantidad por lo menos igual al 1 % y no superior al 15 %, en volumen, de los sólidos de la mezcla, y apisonar o vibrar el cemento en el lugar para formar un revestimiento monolítico de un horno metálico.
