Abstract

Un procedimiento de contacto gas-líquido para fabricar ácido nítrico , que incluye las etapas de: (a) hacer reaccionar catalíticamente aire primario y amoníaco, a temperatura elevada, para formar un gas que comprende óxido nítrico, nitrógeno, oxígeno y vapor de agua, (b) enfriar el gas a una temperatura a la cual condensa el vapor de agua; © introducir el gas enfriado en una o más zonas de absorción de columna y ponerle en contacto a contracorriente con agua, formando con ello ácido nítrico como producto (d) hacer pasar el ácido nítrico obtenido como producto (e) hacer pasar aire secundario a través de la zona o zonas de absorción con el gas enfriado, estando constituido el aire secundario, al menos en parte, por el aire de blanqueo, caracterizado porque se llevan a cabo las etapas siguientes: 1) enriquecer el aire de blanqueo en oxígeno, en aguas arriba de, o aguas abajo de, la zona de blanqueo, 2) enriquecer en oxígeno el gas que pasa a través de la zona o zonas de absorción en una o másregiones donde la reacción de absorción se completa de 50 a 90%
