Abstract

Un procedimiento para preparar un copolímero que consta de 30 a 70 por ciento molar de anhídrido maleico, y de 30 a 70 por ciento molar de acrilamida o metracrilamida; el copolímero se caracteriza por tener una viscosidad relativa de 1.02 a 1.1.0 en sulfóxido de dimetilo, a una concentración de 0.5 g. por decilitro, y una solubilidad inferior a 0.10 g. por g. de la solución (agua), a temperatura ambiente; dicho procedimiento consiste en: calentar una mezcla de anhídrido maleico y acrilamida o metracrilamida en una mezcla disolvente de transferencia de cadena, a 120ºC., cuando menos; introducir de 2 a 20 por ciento de un iniciador de radical libre, y seguir manteniendo la mezcla a una temperatura mínima de 120ºC., hasta consumar esencialmente la polimerización.
